Angela Barney

Angela Susan Barney, 52, of Cloquet, Minnesota, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital on Thursday, January 30, 2020.  Born January 10, 1968, in Cloquet, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Leslie Sr. and Bonita (Shabiash) Barney.

Angela grew up in Cloquet, graduating in 1988 from Fond du Lac Ojibway School. She went on to earn her Associate of Applied Science Degree from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in 2015.  Angela most enjoyed working as a Youth Counselor for the P I program. Her career also included working for Fond du Lac Accounting as a payroll clerk, and as a cook for the Elder Nutrition program in Brookston. Angela loved music and traveling and shopping and just being out and about with friends. She will be missed for her laughter and love of good humor.

Angela is survived by her son Nathan Barney; Mother Bonita Barney; her brother Leon Barney of Brookston; sister Tracey Shabiash of Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers.

A Rite of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 11:am at the Sawyer Center, Sawyer, MN, with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Cloquet.
