Esther Eleanor (Anderson) Dass died in Proctor, Minnesota, on April 9, 2019, at the age of 89. She was born in Duluth on February 8, 1930, to Hjalmar Julius and Bertha (Berg) Anderson. Esther grew up in Payne, Minnesota, and graduated from nearby Meadowlands High School in 1948. While in school she was a cheerleader and was also elected homecoming queen. Esther married Ray Douglas Dass in Kelsey, Minnesota, on June 4, 1949 and lived a long life as wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She lived most of that life in Northeastern Minnesota, except for a dozen years in the Twin Cities Metro Area. She was very involved in caring for nearly all her grandchildren and loved each of them very much.
Esther was preceeded in death by her parents, by her siblings Walter, Elmer, Signe, Elsa and Hildur, and by her granddaughter Kristin (Lind) Graehling and son-in-law Charles Lind. She is survived by her husband Ray; children Luanne (Brent) Johnson, Joanne Lind, Bradley Dass and Donald Dass (Zane Bail); grandchildren Eric Lind, Matthew and Robert Dass, and Zachary, Alyssa and Joshua Johnson; great granddaughter Erin Graehling and great great grandson Benjamin Lueck. A private graveside gathering will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Kelsey at a future date. Arrangements are by Souder-Handevidt Funeral & Cremation Service, Cloquet, MN.
