Richard A. “Dick” Hilinski, 71, formerly of Esko, MN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Sunnyside Care Center in Cloquet.
Dick was born in Cloquet on April 3, 1948 to Herbert Sr. and Impi (Myllymaa) Hilinski. He graduated from Esko High School in 1966 and began working at Conwed. On July 27, 1968, he married Anne Richardson. Dick started working for Romanek Vending in 1969, which he bought in 1981 and operated until 1994. He had built his own home in Esko in 1976. His last job was in construction, which he enjoyed. In five years, he built over 20 homes with his boss, Andy Sessler.
Dick is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Anne; sons, Mike (Rachel) Hilinski, of Spring, TX, Eric (Theresa) Hilinski of Esko; granddaughters, Brianna (Devin) Drawhorn of Dallas, TX, Brittney Hilinski (Corey Kemi) of Cloquet, Gabriella Hilinski of Esko; great-granddaughter, Dalila Tollefson of Cloquet; brother, Herb, Jr. of Esko; sister, Barb Johnson of Mondovi, WI; nieces and nephews. His dog Adam III (The turd).
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Bernie Doble; daughter, Lori; and best friend Ross ‘Yogi’ Jamison.
A memorial service will be held July 18, 2020 at 11:30 am with a gathering of friends and family from 930 to 11:30 am at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Esko. CDC guidelines with social distancing will be followed. Inurnment will be in Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Esko, MN. Memorial preferred. The family expresses a huge thank you to all the staff at both Sunnyside Care Center and St. Croix Hospice, who gave Dick wonderful care.
