Adeline Lorraine Goodman, age 78, began her journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at her home in Mounds View, Minnesota.
Adeline was born on August 3, 1946, in Ponsford, MN, to Selmar Skadsheim and Cordelia Hatlen. She was raised between Red Lake and Ponsford, where she developed a strong sense of family, purpose, and pride in her heritage. A lifelong learner, Adeline attended Park Rapids High School and Bemidji State University, later earning her business degree from Rasmussen University. Adeline’s life was one of service, strength, and quiet resilience. She began her professional journey at the Minneapolis American Indian Center when it first opened, serving as an Administrative Assistant. Over the course of 38 years, she dedicated herself to uplifting and supporting the Indigenous community in Minneapolis. Her work left a lasting impact, rooted in care, consistency, and deep respect for her people. Adeline had a love for creativity and tradition. She was a talented beader, especially proud of making regalia. She found joy in the little things; playing slot machines at the casino, watching her favorite game shows, cooking comforting meals, and doing crossword puzzles with ease and humor. Family was at the heart of everything she did. Known lovingly as the matriarch of her siblings, Adeline was a guiding light and steady presence for those who knew her. Her laughter, wisdom, and warm hugs will be missed beyond words.
Adeline is survived by her beloved son Darren (Janine) Skadsheim; her cherished sisters Joyce Roy, Diane Hatlen, and Beda (Kris) Knutson; her dear friend Dave Loud; her nephews Harold “Whitey” Annette, Mike (Monica) Annette, Bryan Hatlen and Sam Banks; and her nieces Coke (Rick) Smith, Emily Annette, Shanon and Mini Dudley. She also leaves behind many other nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Samuel and Rodney Skadsheim, and her niece Susan Annette and nephew Paul Skadsheim.
Graveside services will be held at Noon on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Pine Point Cemetery, with her niece, Reverend Coke Smith, officiating. A light lunch and time of remembrance will follow at the Pine Point Community Center.
Adeline’s memory will live on in every bead she strung, every dish she prepared, and every heart she touched. May her journey be peaceful, and may her spirit continue to guide and bless us.
