Allen “John” Kingbird, of the Eagle Clan, age 66, began his journey to the spirit world on February 22, 2026 in Red Lake, MN.
John was born on December 10, 1959 to Calvin and Cecelia Kingbird. John married Peggy on July 2, 1983. He worked in the woods as a logger for many years. He also worked as a cashier at the Casino in Red Lake and in housekeeping at the casino in Thief River Falls. John liked going to the casino and spending time with his family, especially his great-grandkids.
John is survived by his wife Peggy Kingbird; children: Roy (Tawn) White of Red Lake, Christopher (Deb J) White of Redby, Jonathan (Heather) Kingbird Sr of Fargo, ND, Blaine (Vanessa) White II of Red Lake and Tia (Leroy) White of Duluth; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Iris Barrett and Rita Kingbird.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Calvin and Cecelia Kingbird; his son: Blaine White I; his grandson: Wesley White; brothers: Oliver Kingbird, Richard Kingbird, Harland Kingbird and Delbert Kingbird; and sister: Mary Kingbird.
A wake will begin at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club and will continue until the service at 10 AM on Friday, February 27, 2026 with Spiritual Leader Allen Hardy. Active Pallbearers will be Christian Kingbird, Austin Kingbird, Quentin White, Jerry White, Joseph Strong, Arlen Strong. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Kingbird, Angela Strong, Robert “Moe” Rushman, Blaine White II, Roy White Jr, Calvin Kingbird, Jonathan Kingbird Jr, Orlando Johnson-Fineday Jr, Roy White III. Burial will be at the White Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving Northern Minnesota.
