Amy Laura Haas, age 47, of Walker, MN, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at her home in Walker.
Amy was born on July 27, 1978, in Laporte, MN, to Kurt and Mary (Knudsvig) Wied along with her twin sister, Anne. She graduated from Brainerd High School in 1996 and went on to attend college in Bozeman, Montana. She returned to the Walker area and met Matt Haas. They welcomed a son, Isaiah, on April 27, 2002, and were married on August 27, 2005. Amy graduated from BSU in 2021 with her Bachelors of Science Degree and worked as an infant and toddler teacher at Leech Lake Head Start in Onigum. In her free time, Amy loved spending time on the lake paddle boarding, boating and water skiing. She enjoyed yoga, camping, listening to music, campfires, and never met a dog she didn’t like.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Isaiah; mother, Mary Wied; sisters: Elizabeth Lund, Katherine (Jeremey) Johnson, Anne (Josh) Hayes; the father of her son and friend, Matt Haas; nieces and nephews: Jacob, Ryan, Abigail, Garret, Hannah and Elijah; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, Kurt Wied; uncle, David Knudsvig; maternal grandparents: H Manford and Grace E. T. Knudsvig; paternal grandparents: Milton J. Wied, Florence M. Moles and Fred Peters .
A celebration of life will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker with visitation one hour prior to the service. Honorary urnbearers will be Amy’s Godchildren. Following the service, all are invited to a luncheon in the fellowship hall. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, Serving Northern Minnesota.
