Anita M. “Doodie” Lussier

Anita was born to Juanita Lussier and George “Moke” Holstein on November 23, 1962 in Red Lake, MN. She began her journey on October 20, 2024 in Red Lake, MN.

Known affectionately by her lifelong nickname Doodie, people were often surprised to discover her name was Anita. Doodie enjoyed going to the casino and bingo with her sister Willa, cousin Shauna, and best friend Shelley English. She also had a thing for romance novels and crossword puzzles. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family and took great pride in raising her special child Kye. Doodie also played a special part in helping raise her niece and nephews, Tomi, Julian, Lief, and Timothy. She especially adored the family's babies and always found a way to make them smile and laugh. Doodie enjoyed her job as a driver for the MARS program in Red Lake, and made many meaningful connections with her clients. Always a compassionate listener, she often became someone people would confide in. Doodie’s absence will be profoundly felt by everyone who knew her, as she left a lasting impact on the lives she touched.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her special child, Kye (Kelsie) Lussier; sister, Willa (Barry) Lussier; brother, Jeremy Holstein-Tallchief; special siblings, Tori Lussier and Neil Lussier; Aunts June Holstein, Florine Prentice, Karen Bedeau, Anne Thunder, Ellen & Theresa Lussier; Uncle Wallace Holstein; Nieces Tomi (Rob) Roy, Kaylynn, Izaylia, Riley, Aaliyah, Reya & Khloe; Nephews Julian (Reyna) Lussier, Lief (Kali) Lussier, Timothy Lussier, Jon Lussier, Chase, Jonny & Nova Mason, Robin Jr, Randyn, Darian, Cordae, Liefy Jr.; and numerous other family & friends.

A wake will be held for Anita at New Red Lake Center at Noon on October 23, 2024, with services at 11 AM on Friday October 25, 2024 with Maaja’iwewinini Mike Dahl. Burial will be at her home in B.O.T. Red Lake. Pallbearers will be Julian, Lief, Timothy, Jon, Ian and Dylan Lussier, David Cobenais, Rob Roy. Alternates will be Neil Lussier and Wally Holstein. Honorary Pallbearers, Shelley English, Karen Ramirez, Debbie Chaboyea, June Holstein, Shauna, Ellen, Selma, Alysa, Tori, Jay & Lee Lussier Jr. Charlene Siddens, Charmaine Sayers, Reyna Lussier and her nieces and nephews.
