Arlyn Dale Thomas

Arlyn Dale Thomas “Ma-Chaak” (Big Person) of the Muckwa Clan, age 56, passed way on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Arlyn was born November 11, 1965, in Red Lake, Minnesota, to Peter Charles and Beverly Jean (Thomas) Black. He attended Ponemah Elementary School and Red Lake High School. He lived most of his life in Ponemah and worked as a truck driver out of St. Paul and also worked in logging and fishing. Arlyn was the father of a daughter Angel Rosebear and a son Gilbert Rosebear.

Arlyn is remembered for his chuckle and his sense of humor, always wanting to make others laugh. He enjoyed deer hunting and the outdoors and also going to the casino.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son Gilbert; daughter Angel; grandchildren Deanthony Rosebear, Jake Rosebear, Kayleigh Rosebear, Ransom Johnson and Brisenia Johnson; sister Candy Thomas (Scruff Johnson); brother Barney Thomas (Linda Perkins); and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Those greeting him in the spirit world are his parents Peter and Beverly Black; grandparents Alice and Phillip Fineday, Sr. and Gloria and Alfred Thomas, Sr.; uncle Alfred “Petie” Thomas Jr.; and aunts Gladys Black and Judy Spears.

A wake for Arlyn will begin on Monday, April 11, 2021, at 5:00pm, at the Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah, MN, and will continue until his service on Wednesday, April 13, 2021, at 11:00am. Zac Earley will serve as Spiritual Leader. Pallbearers caring for Arlyn will be Devaughn Johnson, Deionte Johnson, Marlyn Black, Wesley Cloud Jr., Anthony Patterson, Scruff Johnson, Gilbert Rosebear, and Darwin Iceman.     Honorary pallbearers will be Shaylynn Johnson, Angel Rosebear, Ashleigh Johnson, Debbie Cloud, Janice Iceman, Gretchen Spears, Sharon Rosebear, Ramona Spears, Alisha Thomas, Celeste Thomas, Annie Fineday, Frieda Fineday, Shannon Johnson, Carol Spears, Phillip Fineday, Jr., Robert Fineday, Richard “Biddy” Thomas, Michael Spears, Greeting “Ole” Spears Jr., George Maxwell, Jr., Aaron Rock, and Arlyn Thomas. Burial will follow in the Black Family Burial Ground, Ponemah, Minnesota.
