Ashileen Yvonne Roy

Ashileen Yvonne Roy, Giniwikwe, “Golden Eagle Woman”, age 36, began her journey to the spirit world on Thursday, October 10, 2024 in Red Lake, MN.

Ashileen was born on April 12, 1988, in Bemidji, MN, to Ann Hallowell and Jeffrey Roy Sr. She went to school in Red Lake and made her home in Redby. She was skilled at beadwork and had her own business, Beadwork by Ashileen, where she sold her handmade items.  She loved spending time with family, friends and her children and loved cooking for them. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, helpful, beautiful woman inside and out.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Brayden Roy-Strong, Cadeyn Roy, Jayceon Mason, Taylecia Mason; her parents: Ann Hallowell and Jeffrey Roy Sr.; maternal grandfather, William Hallowell; adopted  grandmother, Martha Smith; siblings: Devin Roy, Jeffrey Roy Jr., Marissa Roy; great-aunts and matriarchs, Elaine Johnson and Loretta B. Webster; aunts: Beth Roy, Nicole Roy, Lynelle “Sue” Roy, Melanie Roy, Lorie Hallowell, Misty Laureno, Brittany Lasley; uncles: Royce Jackson, Bernerd Jackson Sr., Brian Jackson, Peter King, Larry Roy Jr., as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Yvonne “Moonie” Johnson and Larry Roy Sr.; maternal grandmother, Diane Phillips; aunts: Vanessa Hallowell, Sheila Johnson, Brittany Roy; cousin, Savannah Roy; and other close family members and friends.

The wake will begin at 3pm on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Redby Community Center in Redby and continue until the service at 2PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 with Willie Strong officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Devin Roy, Joshua Roy, Ryan Roy, Nicholas Cook-Roy, Avery Yepa, Cyras Whitefeather, Dwight Johnson, Tom Charnoski Jr., Jeffrey Roy Jr., Courtney Barrett, Charles Johnson, Ira Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Danielle Downwind, Kristie Desjarlait, Tiffany Kingbird, Lisa Brun, Tracy Kingbird, Justine Hubbard, Anita Whitefeather, Cheyenne Clark, Natisha King, Salina Jones, Chelsey Redbear, Kylah Roy, Jenna Defoe, Alyssa Roy, Alexandra Roy, Marissa Roy, Leon Toby Donnell, Clara Kirkie, Tamryn Yepa.
