Avis Joy LaDuke

Avis Joy LaDuke, age 64, began her journey to the spirit world on Monday, July 22, 2024 in Red Lake, Minnesota. 

Avis was born on March 1, 1960 to Emma Knudsen and Adrian LaDuke in Red Lake, Minnesota.  She was a single mother of 8 children and worked at Anderson Fabrics and Seven Clans Casino for many years. She loved going to rummages, playing at the casino, baking and watching cooking, home improvement and crime documentaries. She raised many foster children for several years. Her passion was rescuing stray animals. She loved spending time with her grandkids and raising heck with her nephews!

Avis is greatly loved and will be missed by her children Chari LaDuke-Clark (Shane), Andrea LaDuke (Orville), Tina Szczech (Ashley), Jason McGregor (Karen), Robert McGregor, Timothy LaDuke (Carla), Sabrina McGregor and Matthew McGregor; 22 grandchildren; sisters Mavis and Wanda; brothers Cedric, Laverne and her youngest brother Dana, who she raised; many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her Dad; Mom; beloved brother Doug; Angel grandbabies; numerous cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles, along with her fur babies that she loved very much.

A traditional wake will start at 3 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Redby Center and continue until the service at 11 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2024 with Fr. George Ross. Active Pallbearers will be Timothy LaDuke, Anthony LaDuke, Austen LaDuke-Clark, Tyrell LaDuke, Ashley Szczech and Stephen LaDuke. Alternates will be Shane Clark, David LaDuke and Joshua LaDuke. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel Erickson, Moe Rushman, Nancy Comer, Karen Good, Karen Strong and Jane McCollum. Burial will be at a later date.
