Betsy Maxwell

Betsy Lorraine Maxwell Born February 21, 1986 - August 30, 2025 (age 39) of Red Lake, MN, began her spiritual journey on Saturday, August 30, 2025, the daughter of Gloria Maxwell & Greg Maxwell.

Betsy spent some of her school years at Clearbrook-Gonvick, MN, then later finished off school at Red Lake High School, She enjoyed playing basketball and joined the Red Lake Girls Basketball team where she played for a short period of time. She also attended Red Lake Nation College to obtain her Liberal Arts Degree. In her free time she enjoyed going to the casino, spending time with her family and loved drawing. She will be sadly missed by all who know and love her.

She is survived by her Special Friend/Lover Joseph Guinn Sr. and her loving children: Lashawnda Guinn, Raychel-Elyzabeth Guinn, Dustin Guinn, Joseph Guinn Jr, Thomas Guinn and Alyxander Ange Maxwell Grandson: Ezekiele Charnoski-Guinn. Grandparent, Betty King, Father: Greg Maxwell, Sisters: Jazelyn “Skye” Shelquist, April Kingbird; Brothers: Chris Kingbird, Jonathan Maxwell, Ryan Shelquist, Jared Shelquist, Michael Shelquist and James Beaulieu III, Father-in-law: Francis (Palma) Guinn, Mother-in-Law: Roberta Hamilton, Sister-in-Law: Jackie (Tommy) Guinn, Karina (Jake) Guinn, Brother-in-Law: Francis (Shannon) Guinn, Elyiah (Ramona) Guinn, Jon (Andrea) Wakonabo.

She preceded into the spirit world by her mother: Gloria Maxwell, Sister: Tereasa Maxwell, Grandparents: Mary-Jane & Benjamin White, George King, and LaVerne Omen.

A traditional wake will begin at 2PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Old Red Lake Community Center and continue until the service at 10AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, with Zac Earley as spiritual leader. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake.
