Betty Lou Fisher

Betty Lou Fisher (Sarff), passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2025 at Sanford Hospital. She was 97 years young.

Betty was born on March 24th, 1928 to Ira and Ester (Estabrooks) in WIlliston, North Dakota. As a child, she and her family moved around the state of Minnesota. Once an adult, Betty moved to the Walker MN area where she eventually met and married her husband Clarence Fisher. They were married nearly 40 years and spent their years together in the great outdoors and in their gardens. She loved her life as a homemaker and raising her children, Penny and Daniel. Betty was a long-time member of the Order of Rebekahs, having served nearly every position within the local chapter and for the region. She was also a lifetime member of the Walker chapter of the Legion Auxiliary, having received her 60 years pin recognizing her service to the organization. Betty loved to bake (her raisin cream pie and raspberry pie were well-known and loved, as well as her rye bread and piles of cookies), and she loved when her house was full of loved ones gathered for a meal or a holiday together. Card games and puzzles were favorites to sit at the table and spend an afternoon doing. Betty loved nature and the northwoods as much as she loved animals. She never met a furry friend she didn't want to pet and love. She loved to watch the birds at her feeders, especially the hummingbirds and cardinals. While not the biggest fan of sports, she loved and cheered for “her boys” - the Minnesota Twins -  and got to experience her first live game to celebrate her 90th birthday. They won that day and she never forgot the thrill.  Betty was always willing to help and take care of those around her. She spent over a decade as a Senior Companion at May Creek Lodge. Betty loved nothing more than to be with people and her life shows that through all who still love her.

Betty is survived by her son: Daniel (Kathy) Fisher; granddaughters Erin (Mike) Cox and Casey Fisher (Shannon Hensely); and so many nieces and nephews that she loved like her own.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Ira & Esther; husband: Clarence; daughter: Penny; sisters: Arlene, Blanche, and Iris; brother: Gene; several brothers and sisters in law, cousins, other family and dear friends.

A gathering of Friends and Family is scheduled to begin with visitation at 12pm on Friday, November 14, 2025 followed by a memorial service at 1 PM and a luncheon afterwards, at The Community Church of Walker, UCC in Walker, MN. A private inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Walker, MN at a later date.

Donations in Betty’s name can be made to the Walker Area Food Shelf, The Family Safety Network, and the Paws & Claws Animal Rescue. The family asks that you wear her favorite colors - blues and purples- to celebrate her life at the memorial service.
