Beverly L. Guernsey, age 58, of Cass Lake, MN, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji.
Beverly was born on October 15, 1963, in Cass Lake, MN, to Richard and Angeline (Benais) Cutbank, Sr. She graduated from secretarial school in the early 1980’s and began working for the BIA. She went on to work for the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe in education and later in Human Services in a career that spanned over 25 years.
Bev had many hobbies and interests. She loved going for walks to pick rocks, a hobby she passed down to her grandchildren. She enjoyed being out in nature and going for rides on back country roads (to pick rocks!) She was the 2001 Powder Puff Champion at Bemidji Speedway. Bev loved being a “fun” grandma, was always up for an adventure with her grandchildren and took every opportunity to spoil them with love and attention.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Gary (Sheila) Miettinen, Jr., Christopher (Candice) Miettinen, Sr., Scott Miettinen; sisters: Roselyn (Terry) Loeken, Rebecca (Robin) Windom, Bonnie Knutson, Angela (Larry) Starr; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; the father of her children, Gary Miettinen, Sr., special friend, Jesse Urritia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Angeline and Richard Cutbank, Sr.; brother, Richard Cutbank, Jr., spouse, Jamie Guernsey; son, Neil Cutbank; nephew, Terry Loeken, Jr.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The wake will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Mission Community Center and continue until her celebration of life and time of sharing at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, April 22, 2022. Active casketbearers will be: Gary Miettinen, Jr., Christopher Miettinen, Sr., Scott Miettinen, Jeff Oakgrove, Jack Cutbank and Christopher Miettinen, Jr. Honorary casketbearers will be: all her many nephews and grandsons.
