Bonita Jean Armstrong

Bonita Jean Armstrong, age 57, of Cass Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Bemidji Sanford Hospital.  She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Thelma Goodwin (Jones) and David Reyes on February 14, 1967.

Bonita was a member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. She lived in various places in Minnesota while growing up. Bonita graduated from the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School in Cass Lake, Minnesota. She had many adventurous jobs traveling throughout the United States. When she returned to Minnesota, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially taking walks with her grandchildren. She spent her evenings watching the stars and relaxing with her pets.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Jeanie Mitsch Jones; granddaughter Breyanah Wind; and parents Thelma Goodwin and David Reyes.

Bonita is survived by her children Richard, Anthony and Brittany; grandchildren Brenda, Bianca, Brittanya, Camille. Mary and Brandon; siblings Karen Jones, Valerie Reyes, Wayne Pederson (Angie), Paula Reyes and Leah Reyes-Rambaum.

A Wake will begin on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM and continue until the funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the White Earth Family Center in downtown Cass Lake, Minnesota. with Father George Ross.  Active Pallbearers for Bonita will be Clifford Jones, Jimmy Jones, AJ Dvorak, Thomas Cloud, Frank Tuttle and Skip Norton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Pam Mitchell, Mindy Ruby, Susie Cloud, Alisa Goodshield, Karen Anoka, Melissa Dvorak and Julia LaRose.  A private burial will be at a later date.
