Bryan Schoenborn Obituary

Bryan “Slim” “Sonofah” Schoenborn, Eagle Clan, age 60, of Red Lake, MN, travelled to the spirit world on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in Fargo, ND.

Bryan was born to Chris and Betty (Johnson) Schoenborn on June 16, 1962, in Red Lake, MN. At a young age he worked alongside his brothers for his dad’s logging business and later worked in construction as a roofer and also a fisherman. Bryan also worked for CHS and Red Lake Headstart. He met the love of his life, Val Stately Schoenborn and were married on June 13, 2012. Together they raised three sons: Trev, Brent and Josh. Bryan loved playing horseshoes and was on a pool league with his brothers and dad called “Warriors” and won many tournaments throughout the years. Bryan was a very talented artist and will be most remembered for his crazy cartoons of his many friends. Bryan enjoyed hanging out with friends and was known for his smooth dance skills, especially the “Schoenborn Shuffle”.  He was a jokester who loved to play pranks on his friends and family. He was an excellent cook who was known for his frybread. Above all, he loved spending time with family and grandchildren.

Bryan will be lovingly remembered by his sons: Trevor Schoenborn, Brent Schoenborn, Josh Stately; grandchildren: Valerie and Joshua Stately; sisters: Marlys Schoenborn and Jan (Busch) Roberts, Dawn Schoenborn; brothers: Billy Jack Schoenborn, Sr., Gus (Tammy) Schoenborn, Mike Schoenborn, Kevin Schoenborn; special sisters: Merrilee “Buddha” Strong and Melodie Strong; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Val Stately Schoenborn; parents: Chris and Betty Schoenborn; grandmother, Maggie Jackson; brother, Buck Schoenborn; sister, Rose Marie Schoenborn; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Redby Community Center in Redby and continue until the service at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Active casketbearers will be: Brent Schoenborn, Trevor Schoenborn, Joe Schoenborn, Joshua Stately, Dan Schoenborn, Gus Schoenborn, Marvin Schoenborn, Ave Schoenborn, Travis Roberts, Josh Neadeau, Gunz Roberts, Billy Jack Schoenborn, Jr., Zack Morrison. Honorary casketbearers will be: Billy Jack Schoenborn, Sr., Mike Schoenborn, Sr., Kevin Schoenborn, Wendy Johnson, Jan Roberts, Marlys Schoenborn, Tammy Cobenais, Crystal Schoenborn, Kim Schoenborn, Ange Charnoski, Merrilee “Buddha” Strong, Charlis May, Raven Roberts, Kristin Roberts, Dawn Schoenborn, Wayne Clark, Darrell Clark, Richard Johnson, Tony Morrison, Angie Strong, Wally Holstein, Melodie Strong, Jim Parkhurst and Gary Lee Johnson. Inurnment will be at a later date next to his wife at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
