Burton Lee Benton, age 53, of Red Lake, Minnesota, passed away following a long illness on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
Burt was born October 25, 1967, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Gordon Lee Neadeau and Marilyn Benton. He attended school there until junior high when he moved with his mother to Lac Courte Oreilles, Wisconsin. After graduation from high school, Burt attended the Kickin’ Horse Job Corps where he studied the culinary arts. He loved cooking and continued using his training at family gatherings where he was famous for his baked beans.
Burton is remembered as a loving person who cared very much for his son Ambrose and daughter Levayah and other members of his family. He was grateful for Connie Bedeau, his personal care assistant and special friend. He loved his native traditions and family gatherings. His uncle remembers him singing beautifully around the drum back in the day. One special gift was his entertaining storytelling, especially stories of his growing-up years and of his beautiful mother before she left for the spirit world. Burt will be lovingly missed for his caring attitude and willingness to always help a friend in need.
Burton leaves behind to cherish his memory his son Ambrose, daughter Levayah, special friend Connie Bedeau, brothers Kerry Benton and Terry Neadeau, Jr.; sister Tara Neadeau; nieces Shanelle, Nancy, Skyler, Alyzah, Miranda, and Martina; nephews Two Bears, Geezhik, Gordon, Talon, and Chris; and his cat Hammie. Joining Burton in the spirit world are his parents Gordon Neadeau and Marilyn Benton; sister Allison Benton; grandmother Mildred Isham; grandparents Edith Kelley and Henry Neadeau; special brother Loren Siegel, sister Michelle Antonio, special sister Cindy Wade, and nephew Bryce.
