Candida Rodriguez Kingbird

Candida Rodriguez Kingbird, age 51, began her journey to the spirit world on October 18, 2025 in Oregon.

Candida was born on November 27, 1973 in McMinnville, Oregon, to Geraldine Rodriguez and Greg Kingbird Sr. She lived a tough life with much triumphant over hardship. She beat the odds against intergenerational trauma and addiction with 20+ years of sobriety. Candida was dedicated to activism in her native community in Portland, Oregon, even making her way to Standing Rock, where she met many more like-minded activists who became friends.  She was dedicated to her involvement in the Sundance community and supporting her youngest daughter in ceremony and dance. Candida loved to cook and was always ready to feed everyone with her delicious tamales. She was a die-hard Raiders fan and an avid member of the black hole. She loved people deeply and cared for all she came to know and love.

Candida is survived by her 4 daughters: Tanyka Rosalinda, Elaina Leigh, Olivia Naomi and Mishiike Meteh; 1 son: Michael Janero; her grandpup Mackers; grandchildren: Tigerlily, Jordan, CanneoThunder, Ellia, Lyla and Valyn; her mother: Geraldine; sisters, brothers and many extended family.

She has joined her father, brothers and oldest son Antonio Sage.

A wake will begin at 1 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Redby Community Center and will continue until the service at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Burial will be at Family Burial Grounds in Redby, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving Northern Minnesota.
