Carol Ruth Reynolds, 75, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet. Carol was born in Lansing, Michigan, on July 7, 1944, to David and Lorraine (Paukner) Bergum. Carol and her family (her mother, Lorraine, and brothers, David and Thomas) moved back to Duluth in 1950 after the death of her father. After graduation from high school Carol met Vernon Reynolds. Carol and Vernon were married on June 26, 1964, and remained lifelong residents of Cloquet.
Carol was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where she and Vern taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Carol was a private person, but when a friendship was formed, her warm, caring personality would emerge. Carol also loved animals, and through the years she had many dogs and cats. Her last cat “Pretty” was her loving companion for 12 years until Carol moved to Sunnyside Health Care Center. “Pretty” was the recipient of “You Are My Sunshine” every morning; it was also heard by her Larson Commons neighbors.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Vernon. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Reynolds; her brothers David (Linda) Bergum and Thomas (Diane) Bergum; nephews Tom, Jeremy, Michael and Jacob; and niece Annie.
A funeral service for Carol will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet on Friday, October 11 at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Souder Handevidt Funeral and Cremation Service serving the Cloquet area.
