Charles "Chuck" Barrett Sr

Charles “Chuck” Barrett Sr, age 77, began his journey from the Red Lake Hospital to the spirit world on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Red Lake, MN.

Chuck was born on January 1, 1948, in Red Lake, MN to Gladys (Feather) and Frank Barrett Sr. He enlisted in the United States Marines and served his country until his honorable discharge. Chuck worked in law enforcement in Red Lake and owned Barrett Logging with his brother, Mike. Later he worked at the Seven Clans Casino in Red Lake and also Wal-Mart. He met the love of his life, Debbie, in 1991, and were married on October 16, 1993.  Together, they raised their grandson, Jimmy Jourdain and later Corey Beaulieu Jr. Chuck and Corey shared New Years birthdays, they were like two peas in a pod and Corey was Chuck’s baby.

Chuck enjoyed watching Westerns, listening to country music, going to the boys basketball games and trying his luck at the casino. He was a kind, caring man who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Debbie; children: Christine Barrett, Charles “Buzz” Barrett Jr, Terry (Kerri) Jourdain; brothers: Frank “Sonnyman” Barrett, Terry Barrett, Daryl Barrett; sisters: Maxine (Robert) Folstad, Peggy (Richard) Grundmeier, Kellie Paukner-Barrett, Jean Barrett, Becky Barrett; grandchildren: Whitney (Cody) Roberts, Jimmy (FaLeisha) Jourdain, Cierra, Taryn and TJ Jourdain, Alex Benzel, Stephen Barrett, Eric Stoldt, Charles Barrett III, Curtis Barrett, Gina Barrett, Rain Barrett, Dusty Barrett, Ari Barrett, Harmonee Little, Sheela Jourdain and Thomas Jackson; his Hopi grandchildren: Aubrey, Denver, Tanny Aragon; foster daughters: Lavae Smith and Racine White; as well as numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Those greeting him are his parents: Gladys and Frank Barrett Sr; brothers: Gene Wayne Barrett, Michael Barrett, Raymond Barrett, Robert L. Barrett, Adolph Barrett; sisters: Annette Demo, Florence Larson; granddaughters, Morgan Barrett,  Ambria Aragon; nephew, Michael Joseph Barrett.

A wake will begin at 2PM on Monday, April 7, 2025 at the Redby Community Center in Redby and continue until the service at 2PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 with Pastor Tom Pollock officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Randy Grundmeier, David Barrett, Justin Desjarlait, Terry Jourdain, Robert J. Barrett, Jimmy Jourdain. Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles “Buzz” Barrett Jr, Daryl Barrett, Richard Grundmeier, Alan Barrett, Cody Roberts, Billy Green, Baby Corey and Cyless Beaulieu, Whitney Roberts, Taryn Jourdain, Tonya Blowers, Tanya White, Gary Auginash Sr, Alfred Berg and Cierra Jourdain.  Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
