Cheryl Green Obituary

Cheryl Green, age 55, Makwa clan, journeyed onto the Spirit World on March 9, 2025. Cheryl was a beloved mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community.

Cheryl cherished her role as a mother, auntie, and grandmother, always ensuring her family felt deeply loved and cared for. She was a devoted mother to Danielle Mitchell, Willi Adams, Lea Soto, and Angel Green, and a proud grandmother to Louis Velner, Danielle’s son.

Written by Niece Justice Strong (Dooney’s Daughter):

During her last few years, Auntie Cheryl found great joy in spending time with her tiny baby nieces and nephews, doing what she did best—being an auntie. Her great-nieces and nephews, Jordan, Jeremiah, Sequoyah, Nizhoni, and Michael, Justice’s children, held a special place in her heart. Auntie Cheryl often called them her grandchildren, ensuring their childhoods were filled with love and adventure—swimming, playing at the park, visiting libraries, attending family nights at daycare, cooking together, celebrating holidays and birthdays, going to church, or sledding. She was truly the best auntie, always surprising them with little treats and making every moment magical.

Written by Daughter Angel Green:

My mom was the life of the party, bringing laughter wherever she went. She was known as the mom and auntie who always had goodies to share and an open door for anyone in need. Her generosity knew no bounds—always ensuring her loved ones had food, even when they already had some. She deeply cherished her family and friends, and she especially adored her dogs, Black and Ziphorah, who were her beloved companions. She lifted our spirits with positivity, always choosing love over negativity. Though she has left us, we will honor her by coming together as a family, just as she would have wanted.

Written by Niece Freedom Bad Moccasin (Dooney’s Daughter):

Auntie Cheryl was there for me when no one else was. She always opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay and made sure I had food, even when I was on my own. No matter what, I knew she would be there for me. She was always laughing—no matter the situation, no matter the circumstances. That’s what I’ll remember most—her laugh. It had a way of healing everyone around her, making even the hardest days feel lighter.

She loved to reminisce about her youth, always telling me stories about my Auntie Angela. She had the best humor, always making everyone laugh. I can still hear her voice telling me, “Little girls walk on the inside, Freedom—even when you're 90 years old, I’ll keep saying that.”
