Clayton Kingbird, age 64, of the Eagle Clan, from Ponemah, MN, began his journey to the spirit world on Friday, April 18, 2025 in Red Lake, MN.
Clayton was born on October 27, 1960 in Red Lake, MN, to Olive (Johnson) and Kenneth Kingbird. He graduated Washington High School in St Paul in 1978. In his younger years, he was an avid commercial fisherman and worked at Team Industries in Bagley for a time. He liked to cruise with his dad to go buy lottery tickets. Clayton liked watching football, baseball and old Western and Comedy shows. He loved spending time with Kelly Jr and sharing fishing memories and stories.
Clayton is survived by his sister: Debra (Debi) Kingbird; nephews: Kelly Sr (Sam), Gerald Sr (Kimberly), Andrew Sr (Ashley), Jason, Zachary (Marlee) and Adam; nieces: Tracey (Jordan), Jasmine (Mannie), LeAnn, Jolene, Hilary (Mitchell) and Alexa (Justin); great-nephews: Kelly Jr, Gerald Jr, Andrew Jr, Tyler (Bobbijean), Aaron, Gabriel, Kaynon, Derrick, Darius, D’Anthoney, Dante, Owen, Oshel, Oswald, Gozi, Zibi, Arden, Zayden and Houston; great-nieces: Cambria, Jairdyn, Journey, FaLeisha (Jimmy), Gerika (Cayden), TeAnndra, Aundraya, Ariel, Leah, Jayci, Ayla, Leah, Maya, Delayne, Anastasia and Ada.
Those greeting him in the spirit world are his parents: Olive (Johnson) and Kenneth Kingbird; brothers: Michael Kingbird and Kenneth Kingbird Jr; sisters: Lisa Kingbird, Karen L. Kingbird and Sandra J. Kingbird; niece: Sheila Kingbird; and brother-in-law: Harold “Zob” Graves.
A traditional wake will begin at 12 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club and continue until the service at 10 AM on Thursday, April 24, 2025 with Spiritual Leader Allen Hardy. Active Pallbearers will be Kelly Kingbird Sr, Gerald Kingbird Sr, Andrew Kingbird Sr, Jason Graves, Zachary Kingbird, Jordan May, Dale Kingbird and Russell Kingbird. Honorary Pallbearers will be All nieces and nephews. Burial will be at the Kingbird Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
