Corey Dale Whitefeather

Corey Dale Whitefeather, age 34, of the Kingfisher Clan of Ponemah, MN, entered the spirit world on April 14, 2023.  He was born on March 8, 1989 in Bemidji, MN, to Corey Whitefeather Sr and Kimberly (Stillday) Whitefeather.  He attended Ponemah Elementary, Kelliher High School and Red Lake High School.  He worked at Equaywiigamig, Red Lake Casino and the Ponemah Community Center.

Corey liked to play softball, basketball, horseshoes, bean bag toss, football, co-ed volleyball, moccasin game, and bowling.  He was very athletic and competitive. He liked cooking, fishing and singing with P-town Boyz and NDN Creek.  He loved spending time with his children, wife and family, especially his grandfather, Roderick.  He coached several youth softball and basketball teams and organized many community events.  He loved traveling to different pow-wows, basketball and softball tournaments and treasured the time at home with his wife and his baby Korey.  Corey was very protective, comical, outspoken and social.

Corey was preceded in death by many family members, including Warren and Alvina Stillday, Sr, Isaac and Josephine Whitefeather, Genevieve Adams, Harvey Bellanger, Carol Whitefeather, Roderick Whitefeather, Jr; Antonio Rodriguez, Taylor Whitefeather, Stacy Whitefeather; William Norcross, Sr., Warren Stillday, Jr, Patricia Tonce, Margaret Jarski, Alvin Stillday, Ronald Whitefeather, Sr, Marilyn Stillday, Lawrence Stillday, Sr., Dewayne Lewis, Chanelle Rosebear and Christine Thunder.

He is survived by his wife, Robyn Pemberton-Whitefeather; father Corey (Lana) Whitefeather Sr, mother Kimberly Whitefeather; sons Nathaniel Pemberton (Karlea), Drayden Pemberton; daughters CeAngela Pemberton (David), and Korey Donnell-Whitefeather; brothers Shadow (Alexandra) Whitefeather and Kendall Whitefeather, Dakota (DeAngela) Rosebear Sr and Tyler Rosebear; sisters Lachele Whitefeather, Lakota (Leon) Whitefeather, Thyria Whitefeather, Kallea Martin, LaKiah Rosebear and Taylor Paige; grandparents Roderick Whitefeather Sr, Maurice “Jocko” Thunder, Geraldine Rodriguez; in-laws Robert (Deanna) Pemberton Sr, Kimberly (Gerald) Kingbird Sr, Beverly Pemberton, Robert (Eunie) Pemberton Jr, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets Rocky, Sky and Nova.

The wake will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Boys & Girls Club of Ponemah and continue until the 10:00 AM service on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Boys & Girls Club of Ponemah with Spiritual Leader Zac Earley. Active Casketbearers will be Harold Graves Jr, James Cloud III, Wesley Cloud Jr, Jerritte & Garritte Caldwell, Travis Dow, Carter Dow, Tyrone Dow, DeAngelo Rodriguez, Brian Stillday, Jr, Bryce Cloud Sr, and Neal Johnson.  Alternate Casketbearers will be Dakota Rosebear Sr, Jeffrey Barrett and Benjamin Kingbird. Honorary Casketbearers will be Aunts, Uncles, Sisters, Brothers, Warriors Softball Team, Natives Softball Team, Northlake Softball Team, Dabbers Traveling Basketball Team and his Children. Burial will be at the White Burial Grounds.
