David L. Bach

David Linus Bach, 77, of Backus, MN died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

Dave entered the world on December 16, 1945.  He was the eldest son of 8 children born to Linus and Margaret (Nowacki) Bach in East Grand Forks, MN.  He attended Sacred Heart School and graduated in 1963.  In fact, he attended their 60th class reunion on October 18, 2023, one week before his untimely death.

Dave attended college at St Mary’s in Winona, MN earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967.   Shortly after, Dave married Carol Goodman of East Grand Forks and together moved to Virginia where they were blessed with two children.  

In 1977, Dave married Alice Rudduck in Coleraine, MN.   They moved their now family of 6 to Barnesville, MN and together they made a home full of good memories.  Together, Dave and Alice welcomed son Matt to the family.

Dave worked for Sears in Fargo wearing many hats as a mechanic, warehouse manager, and maintenance for 25 years.  After retiring from Sears, he went on to work for U-Haul for another 15 years before retiring from there. Throughout his life, Dave pursued his passions of family, motorcycling, cars, and giving back to the community.   He was very dedicated to the Boy Scouts, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic church.

Dave had a huge laugh, wicked eyebrows, the brightest blue eyes you’ve ever seen, and was a Green Bay Packers fan.   He always did his best to provide for his family, working many jobs at one time and through it all, did it with a quick wit that he handed down to his children.  Dave was known as a man they could count on when they needed help whether they were family, friend, or someone on the side of the road.

Dave is survived by his wife Alice, Children: Nick (Stacey) Bach of East Grand Forks, MN, Jan Charwood of Akeley, MN, and Matt (Susan) Bach of Brooklyn Park, MN, Amanda (Helena Bryant) Mendon of Cincinnati, OH and Brian Mendon of Lady Lake, FL: Grandchildren: Karissa (Robert) Ross, Heather Bach, Wyatt Charwood, Wade Charwood, Lily Bach, Linus Bach, Andrew (Brooke) Mendon, Michael Mendon, and Marc Bryant; Great grandchildren: Delaney, Elowyn, and McKenna Ross: Siblings:  Reggie (Marlene) Barnesville, MN, Mary (Vince) Thoma, Fergus Falls, MN, Marcia BMarthaler (Ed Marthaler), Newport Beach, CA, Pamela (John) Tallmadge, Cincinnati, OH, Patricia (Ray) Hettwer, Brea, CA, Cherie (Dale) Edlund, Breckenridge, MN, Anastasia (Vern) Melzer, Colorado Springs, CO. David also had several nieces and nephews who loved him and will miss him. 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Grandparents: William “Bill” and Lillian “Lil” (Greenwood) Bach, Casmir and Rose (Gongeroski) Nowacki, and Carol Bach.
