David Donald Badbear Sr.

David Donald Badbear Sr. Makade-Bizhikiins (Little Back Buffalo Calf) 74, of Bemidji, passed away on January 12, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center, Bemidji, Minnesota. He was born on July 27, 1948, in Crow Agency, Montana to George and Olive Badbear.  David is proceeded in death by his parents George and Olive; siblings William, Richard, Marjorie and five other siblings that passed when they were in infancy; nieces and nephews William, Faith, Dee, Barry, Dan Julie Wilkinson, Audra Wilkinson, Mark Wilkinson, Sheila Notafraid, Anna Old Crow, Lisa Gayle, Gary Badbear; Children Cheryl, April, David.  He is survived by his spouse Diane Cain, Children Chad, David, Nathan Smells, nieces and nephews; Tim Ridesahorse, Jolene Smells, Lila Bull Chief.

A traditional wake for David will begin on 7:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2023, and continue until the traditional funeral service at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Veteran’s Memorial Center, Cass Lake, Minnesota.  Spiritual Advisors will be Zak Early, Adrian Liberty and Ty Stately and Mide’wiwin friends and family.   Honorary Pallbearers for David will be Shawn Backbone, Julie Yarlette, Shirley Cain, Nancy Cain, Sharon Smith.  Pallbearers will be David Badbear Jr., Chad Badbear, Nathan Smells, Lane Ridesahorse, Shannon Nadeau, Tom Cain Jr., George Cain.  Burial will be in Mission Cemetery, Cass Lake, Minnesota.  Arrangements are by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation, Walker, Minnesota.
