Delbert "Dean" Kingbird

Delbert “Dean” Kingbird, Binesi  - “Thunderbird”,  age 54, of Redby, MN, travelled to the Spirit World on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Dean was born on September 13, 1966 in Red Lake, MN to Mary Kingbird and Albert King.  He grew up in the Ponemah area but made Redby his home.  Dean was quite the character. He had a crazy fun personality, was a prankster who loved to laugh and have a good time. He was an excellent pool player and enjoyed dice, card games, cribbage and all types of music.  Dean was kindhearted and had an open door policy for friends and family.  He enjoyed watching his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, many whom he thought of as his own children. He was well liked and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers:  Verlin “Itto” Kingbird, Sr., James “Yum” (Melissa) Kingbird, Patrick “Otis” Norquay; sisters:  Brenda Sayers, Faye King, Thelma King and Yvettte “Eva” Kingbird; special nephews: Verlin Kingbird, Jr., James “Jimboy” Kingbird, Troy Cook and Avery Kingbird; special nieces: Tiffany “Mabel” Kingbird, Taylee Kingbird, Maryana Kingbird and Jasinda Kingbird; step-father, Ronald “Ringo” Smith; aunts: Martha Smith and Pauline Hamlin; uncles: Ames Kingbird, Royce Kingbird, Vernon “Mavis” Kingbird, and Albert T. Kingbird, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

Those greeting him in the Spirit World are his parents, Mary Kingbird and Albert King; his maternal and paternal grandparents and four sisters:  Kimberly Kingbird, Victoria Kingbird, Roselyn King and Alberta “Webby” King.

The wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 30, 2021 with Allen Hardy as the Spiritual Leader. The active casketbearers will be:  Todd Barrett, Kevin Schoenborn, Gordie Johnson, Rueben Wind III, Barry Oakgrove, Sr., Gary Lee Johnson, Barry King, Avery Kingbird, Jason King and Paul Wenell.  Honorary casketbearers will be:  Kristi Fairbanks, Eunice Whitefeather, Big Rob Kingbird, Simon and Neoka Roybal, Donald Roybal, Larry Dow, Dane Clark, Wayne Clark, Bryan Schoenborn, Billy Jack Schoenborn, Royce Hawk, Benny and Carol Roybal, Ron Perkins, Arn and Lisa Moose Stately, Bob Roybal, Becky “Beerbomb” Cook, Evan Thomas, William “Bill” Hardy, Travis and Bushman Roberts, Melissa Kingbird, Richard Johnson, Joe Medina, John “JK” King, Brian “Bert” Johnson, Shelly Schoenborn, Duane Cook, Sr., Shane and Kyle Garrigan, Jeanette and Mona Needham, Sheldon “Ming” Cook, Dolan Donnell and Wesley Jones.  Burial will be at the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah.  Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service.
