Delores Gaye Lanham, “Nii Kance”, age 69, crossed into the Spirit World on Monday, October 12, 2020, at St. Mary’s Essentia Health in Duluth, Minnesota.
Delores was born on February 28, 1951, in Cass Lake, Minnesota, to Archie (Loretta) Robinson, Sr., of Inger, MN. She graduated from Deer River High School and attended the Leech Lake Tribal College studying law enforcement. She later became a police office for the Leech Lake Tribal Police Department. Delores served in the US Army, becoming a sergeant and serving in Vietnam. She also attended the Mo-kah-um Bible School and worked as an EMT driver. Delores loved her grandchildren, raising several of them. Delores loved to be outdoors, dancing at pow-wows, playing her guitar and writing music. She also enjoyed going to karoake and the casino.
Delores is survived by four loving sons: Ronald W. Lanham, Jr., Kenneth C. Lanham, Simon Garbow, and Waylon Lanham; two daughters: Sonja Garbow and Starr Lanham; two sisters: Alice (Charles) May and Ed (Edward) Farrie; and many grandchildren, nephews, nieces, friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Mary, Elsie, Donna, Carol and Cynthia; brothers: Owen and William Robinson; and granddaughter Montana Garbow.
A wake for Delores will begin Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 6:30pm at the Inger Community Center, Inger, Minnesota, and will continue until the service on Friday, October 16, at 11:00AM. Rick Defoe will serve as Spiritual Leader. Casketbearers will be those who work for the Leech Lake Day Labor/TEP Program. Honorary Casketbearers will be Simon Garbow, Waylon Lanham, Starr Lanham, Quentin Lanham, Javaughn Lanham, Andrea Lanham, Ronald Lanham, Kenneth Lanham, Delores Robinson, Stanley Robinson, Charles May, Calvin Robinson, Nicole Robinson, Darwin Robinson, and Reginald Robinson. Burial will follow at the Tuttle Cemetery, Winnie Dam, MN.
