Delwyn Earl Holthusen Sr. (Sonny) was born July 18th, 1940, in Red Lake, MN, the son of Reinhard and Tillie (Smith) Holthusen. He was raised and Educated in Grygla Goodridge. Delwyn had daughters with his first wife Peggy Morse. Remarried in 1977 to Mildred (Millie) Strong and had one son Delwyn Holthusen Jr. Delwyn worked at Numerous jobs such as mining, Rancher in Montana, logger, trapper, fisherman, Captain of Police until his disability in 1979. Delwyn enjoyed going to the Casinos and playing Keno and watching CNN, old western movies and watching his grandchildren play basketball. Delwyn loved telling stories about his good old days of playing basketball with his buddies to working on the ranch in Montana and fishing with family and friends throughout the seasons in Red Lake, MN.

Delwyn is survived by his Son Delwyn Holthusen Jr (Bobby), Cheryl Kingbird (Jeff), Della Cloud (Ron), Yvonne Holthusen and Michael Seki all of Ponemah,MN and Marida Seki of Red Lake. Siblings Blanche Heilig of Rhinelander, WI, Audry Johnston of East Grand Forks, MN, Shirley Ferrell of Council, ID and Marion Lussier of Red Lake, MN. 21 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.

Delwyn Holthusen Sr. Is preceded in death by his parents Reinhard and Tillie Holthusen, Siblings Ethel Wilkins, Ardella Bailey, Phyliss Sumner, Marcy Ostlund, Emily Holthusen and beloved wife Mildred (Millie) Holthusen.

The wake will begin at 2PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service on Friday, November 3, 2023. Active pallbearers will be: Ryan Holthusen, Trent Holthusen, DJ Holthusen, TY Holthusen, Brody Fox, Ron Cloud III, Tony Cloud Sr., Bryce Cloud Sr., Jordan Cloud, Tyler Hansen, Brandon Hansen. Honorary pallbearers will be: Willie Strong, Brian Holthusen, Jeff Kingbird, Ron Cloud Jr., Randall Holthusen, Derek Lussier, Herman Donnell, Jerry Bailey, John Dudley, Joyce Roy, Lorraine Sayers, Rich Wilkie. Burial will be at the Holthusen Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
