Dennis "June" Staples Jr

Dennis “JUNE” Staples Jr, “Migiziins” Little Eagle of the Maang  and Makwa Clans, age 40, began his journey to the spirit world on Monday, February 24, 2025 in Cass Lake, MN.

June was born on October 21, 1984 to Dennis Staples Sr and Diane Fineday in Bemidji, MN. June grew up and lived in Cass Lake, MN. June enjoyed swimming, riding motor bike, casino, coloring, music, cruising, writing, walking around, scratch offs and playing sports. He liked tinkering on anything and everything, being a good carpenter! June was a ‘Jokester” with a great sense of humor.  June was good company and a dog whisperer.

June is survived by his child: Denelle Rose Staples; parents: Diane Fineday and Dennis Staples Sr; and siblings: Ryan Staples Sr, Jamie Lee Staples (Travis), Aleigha Fineday, Connie White (Matthew), James Staples and Emma Staples.

He was preceded in death by son: Dante Staples; grandmothers: Barbara Fineday and Cecelia (Staples) Drouillard; and grandfathers: Cecil Ryan, Louis A. Junco, John J. Wind Sr and Gabby Headbird.

A traditional wake will begin at 6 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the White Earth Community Center in Cass Lake and continue until the service at 10 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 with Spiritual Leader Melvin Goodman. Active Pallbearers will be Jacob Morris, Corey Drouillard, Paul Lindgren, Travis Gale, Ken Staples Jr, Gordon Fineday, Ryan (Bro) Staples Jr, Reeko Antell, Jarret Wind and Nate Seelye. Honorary Pallbearers will be Connie Bruce, Jean Bobolink, Ivan Wind, Jaymzie Desjarlait, Bobbi Norby, Patty Staples, Charlie Wind, Marilyn Wind, Gary Littlewolf, Ryleigh “Bisquito” Staples and Brady Gale.  Burial will be at the Fineday Burial Grounds in Pennington, MN.
