Diane Lynn White

Diane Lynn White, Ozhaawashko Giizhigookwe “Blue Sky Woman”, age 55, of Ponemah, MN, journeyed to the Spirit World on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Indian Health Services in Red Lake, MN.

Diane was born on May 24, 1966, to George and Mary (Dickenson) White, Sr., in Red Lake, MN. She attended elementary school in Red Lake and then went to high school at the Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, SD. She met the love of her life, Louis Jenkins, Jr., in 1989, and together they raised four children. He passed away in 1996.  Diane lived in various places throughout Northern Minnesota, finally settling in Ponemah.  

Diane had many hobbies and interests.  She liked to take rides with her sister, Gig, enjoyed going to the casino and loved to smoke. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children:  Linda (Brian) White, Susan “Duzeey” (Kerry) Jenkins, Louis (Tracey) Jenkins III, Mary Jenkins; grandchildren: Messiah Maxwell, Immanuella “Manny” Maxwell, Kelita Maxwell, Serenity May, Georgie White, Hannah Jenkins, Louis Jenkins IV, Dewayne “Minow” Jenkins, Annabell Jenkins and JaRaya Kingbird; sisters: Georgette “Gig” White, Carol Schoenborn and Donna Graves; her brother, Adrian White, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: George White, Jr. and Roger White, Sr.; the love of her life, Louis Jenkins, Jr., and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

The wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.  Casketbearers will be:  Rawlin White, Cheyenne Loussier, David “DJ” White, Vincent White, Roger White and John Dickenson. Alternates will be: Douglas White, Kevin Cook, Jr. and Robert White.  Honorary casketbearers will be: Marida “Missy” Seki, Linda Dow, Debbie Beaulieu, Jackie Hobson, Tammy Stillday, Lolli Jones, Candace Beaulieu, Merri “Mouse” White, Elilzabeth “Liz” White, Renae White, Sarah White, Kaylene White, Suzie Belcourt, Michelle Graves, Louise “Muppett” McKennette, Mike Smith, Adrian Lussier, Pete White, Clint White, George White, Shaundae White, Verdell Cook, Eddie Cook Mike Smith, Millie Johnson and Ron Patterson.  Interment will be at the White Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah.  Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, Walker, MN.
