With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Douglas “Oscar” W. King Sr, of Redby, MN. He started his journey on April 5, 2026 in Bemidji, MN.
Oscar was born on August 24, 1963, to Sharon Donnell and Leonard King in Red Lake, MN. Oscar grew up most of his life in Redby, going to school at the Red Lake Mission and graduated from Red Lake High School with the class of 1981. He then went to work at the fisheries which he worked there on and off for many years. He helped with his mother’s day care anytime she needed help.
Oscar loved hunting, fishing, cooking and helping people. He helped raise his three grandkids when they were younger. Anytime you stopped by to visit him he was always cooking something and always offered to feed you. Oscar was known for cooking the best walleye, the most tastiest deer meat and most of all his fresh biscuits, just like his mother. Oscar sure knew how to make you feel loved. He was very proud of his kids and grandkids. Every time you saw Oscar, he was always in a good mood and always kind to other people when you saw him. He loved going hunting with his nephews, Darren and Bomber. He loved the company of all his nieces and nephews. If you ever needed anything, Oscar was always right there to help you.
Oscar is survived by his sons: Douglas King Jr and Brandon Fairbanks Sr; grandchildren: Kaelene, Kaelynn and Frank Weise, Todd Johns Jr, Hallie Johns, Simon Johns, Aniah Johns, Annalise Roy; uncles: Herman and Orlie Donnell; nephews: Darren King, Bomber King; nieces: Sara King and Ramona King; all his great nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
