Dwight Perkins Obituary

Dwight Alan Perkins, 46, of the Marten Clan, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau, Minnesota.

Dwight was born on May 14, 1975, in Red Lake, Minnesota, to Kenneth Johnson and Gloria Perkins. He was raised in Ponemah and graduated from Red Lake High School. Dwight lived his  young adult years in Ponemah and enjoyed playing softball, often traveling to play in tournaments. In 2005, Dwight moved to Warroad where he worked at Seven Clans Casino. He was a member of the Warroad Pool League for many years and also enjoyed playing poker and pull tabs. Dwight is remembered as a quiet man, who once you got to know him was a really nice guy.

Waiting to greet Dwight in the spirit world are his parents Kenneth and Gloria; grandparents Delores and Jim Johnson and Clyde and Grace Perkins; and niece Taylor Whitefeather. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Darren (Jessica) Perkins and Dustin Perkins; sister Billie Jean Perkins; special companion Nancy Hardy; nieces Cathleen Nelson, Nicky Whitefeather, Miley Whitefeather, Jada Perkins. Carrie Iceman, and Libby Perkins; nephews Herbert Nelson III and Quentin Nelson; and grandniece Zaria and grandnephew Zylan.

A wake for Dwight will begin Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 6:00pm at the Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah, Minnesota, and will continue until the service on Friday, January 14, at 10:00am. Zac Earley will serve as spiritual leader. Pallbearers will be Robert Johnson Jr., Darnell Perkins, Jeffrey Perkins, Clyde Perkins III, Herb Nelson III, and Scott Perkins. Alternate pallbearers will be Ian Prince, Cameron Hardy, Christopher Thomas, and Jeremy Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his friends in the Warroad Pool League. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Burial Grounds, Ponemah.
