Earl Roy Johnson, age 91, began his journey to the spirit world on Sunday, January 5, 2025 in Red Lake, MN.
Earl was born on August 12, 1933, to Antoine and Lilian Johnson (White) in Onigum, MN. He grew up in the Onigum, Minneapolis, Cass Lake and Duluth areas and served in the Air Force from July 1952 to August 1956 and was honorably discharged. He served during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and UN Service Medal. Earl had a good sense of humor and always liked to joke around. He liked going to the casino to socialize and playing bingo. He helped his family in many ways, including rides to go shopping, eat out and to doctor appointments. He will always be remembered for the picture birthday cakes he loved buying his great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Antoine and Lilian; brothers Pete Johnson, Simon Johnson, Antoine Johnson Jr and Harry Johnson; sisters Marie Frances (Steve) Littlewolf and Bernice Johnson (John) Ross; special friend Philomine; and many relatives that have passed on before him. Earl is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 9 – 11 AM with a Memorial Service at 11 AM on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Alliance Church in Cass Lake with Pastor Mark Little Elk. Burial will be at the Leech Lake Veteran’s Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN.
