Edward Dean Cook, age 67, began his journey to the spirit world on Sunday, October 12, 2025 in Bemidji, MN.
Edward was born on February 6, 1958 to Theodore Roy Sr and Shirley (Cook) Burgoon in Red Lake, MN. He graduated from Red Lake High School. Edward worked as a mechanic at the Red Lake School and Red Lake Group Home. He owned Cooks Towing Company and the Neptune Convenience Store and also worked at Cooks Logging and Red Lake Nation Chippewa Hemp Farm. Edward liked playing his lucky 4 numbers on Caveman Keno at the Casino.
Edward is survived by the love of his life: Hilda Cook; children: Robert Cook Sr (Terra), Leah Sue Cook and Shyla (Richard) Thunder; grandchildren: Robert Jr, Chloe, Dayon, Denena, Robyn, Bubby, Todd Jr, Tanelle, Tatiana, Tyler, Roman and Tia; great-grandchildren: Zander, Zavier, Caycen, Iverson, Ulysseia and Azalea; and siblings: Douglas Cook, Ramona Stately, Gerald Cook and Lisa (Pat) Defoe.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Theodore Roy Sr and Shirley (Cook) Burgoon; siblings: Tracey Cook, Donna Spears, Ted Roy Jr and Tony Nedeau; and grandson: Avery Cook.
A wake will begin on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the New Red Lake Center and will continue until the service at 10 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025 with Spiritual Leader Allen Hardy. Active Pallbearers will be Austin Cook, Brandon Stately, Frank Stately, Kurt Tarnow, Rodney Defoe Sr, Corey Stately Sr, Dylan Rossbach, Jordan Downwind, Brian Seki, Ben Cloud. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clarence & Jan Drouillard, Diane Howard, Jeff Dolson, Thomas “Jambi” Westbrook, Maggie Whitefeather, Mary Ellen Cook, Kathy Nedeau, John Cobenais, Jerald Cobenais, Lolli Jones, Olga Hanson, Georgianna Jourdain. Burial will be at the Family Burial Grounds in Neptune, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving Northern Minnesota.
