Edward Steven Morgan, “Miigwani-Wiiwakwan”, of the “Maang” (Loon) Clan, age 53, began his journey to the spirit world on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND
Ed was born on August 29, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, to Elmer and Donna (Day) Morgan. When Ed was a young boy, the family moved to Minneapolis where he attended elementary school. In the mid-1970’s, the family moved home to the north woods and Ed attended Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig school, graduated with his GED, and later attended Staples AVTI where he studied forestry. Ed enjoyed working and was employed by the Leech Lake Casino, Leech Lake Archeology program, and Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig school as school bus driver. He liked to have his surroundings neat and clean, even his yard, and cared for the Morgan Cemetery in his younger years. From the time he was 16, he lived with a painful illness which produced limitations to his activities, but still he worked when he could and took care of his granddaughter Elsa. His family was of primary importance to him and he will be greatly missed.
Ed leaves behind his son Eric (Brittany); mother Donna Morgan; grandchildren Elsa and Anthony; step-grandchildren Aaliyah, Julie and Nevaeh; brother Jerry Morgan; and several aunts and uncles. Welcoming him to the spirit world are his brother Ron Morgan and father Elmer Morgan.
A traditional wake for Ed will begin Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 5:30pm at the Oak Point Center, at Oak Point/Cass Lake, MN, and will continue until his service on Sunday, January 10, at 11:00am. Ginew Geshig will serve as spiritual leader. Casketbearers will be Tom Haugen, Joe Kingbird, Rupert Olson, Josh Morgan, William Johnson, Beau Morgan, and Curtis Brown Sr. Honorary Casketbearers will be Russell Folstrom, Sr., and James Fairbanks. Burial will follow in the Morgan Family Cemetery at Oak Point.
Arrangements are being provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, Walker, Minnesota.
