Edwin Keith Jones

Edwin Keith Jones, Ininii - “Man” age 48, of Ponemah, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on October 21, 2021.

Edwin was born on December 27, 1972 to Julia (Goose) and Fredrick Jones, Sr.  Edwin touched many hearts in his life. He was working at Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls as a security guard and also assisted with the Drop Team.  Edwin had numerous jobs throughout his life.  He worked at Red Lake Fisheries, Helblads, Andersons Fabrics and Seven Clans Casino.  He liked to work on cars and enjoyed doing mechanical work for family and friends. He enjoyed listening to pow-wow music, country music, classic rock and one of his favorite songs was Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress.  Many of his friends and family have known Edwin to always be dancing and telling jokes.  Edwin always lent a helping hand to those that asked, if it was needing a ride or working on their car for them. He was very caring and never turned anyone away.

Edwin entered the spirit world and is joined by his parents: Frederick Jones, Sr. and Julia Gertrude Jones; his children:  Tasheila Starr Jones and Dalton Jones; brothers: Cornelieus Jones and Byron Jones; sister, Darlene Jones; paternal grandfather, William Jones; paternal grandmother, Mary Downwind; maternal grandparents: Paul Goose and Julia Black; uncles: Melvin Jones, Hinton Jones and William Jones, II; aunts: Geraldine Yellow, Mary Jane Whitefeather, Rose Lussier, Louisa Rodriguez; cousins: Virgil Jones, Kevin Jones, Sr. and William Jones III, Byron Lussier Albert Lussier, Jr., Bernard Whitefeather, Orlene “Rae” Jones, Eldon Cloud, Jacques and Richard Whitefeather.

He is survived by his children: Brett Jones, Elissa Kay Jones and Chesney Wilson; his grandson, Royalty Jones. Edwin loved his children with all his heart and he was so proud when his grandson was born and got to spend time with him and would talk with him a lot on messenger. Edwin also leaves behind his brothers: Fred (Roberta) Jones, Jr., Myron (Pearl) Jones, Sr., Terry Jones, Ronald Jones, adopted brother, Aaron Jones; sisters: Jessie Jones, Vickie Jones and Sharon Jones; his lifetime special friend, Tina Johnson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he held dear to his heart and loved them all as his own children.

The wake will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 20, 2021.  The spiritual leader will be Zac Earley.  Active casketbearers will be:  Tyrone Dow, Martin Raincloud, Darwin Lussier, Derek Spears, Brett Jones, Aaron Jones, Michael Jones, Hinton Jones and alternates: Dwight Greenleaf, Torey Jones and Cole Saice. Honorary casketbearers will be: Elissa Kaye Jones, Chesney Wilson, Wayne Johnson, Doug Redeagle, Will Tate, Robin Jones, Freida Greenleaf, Shantell Jones, Janelle Jones, Sylvia Wilson, Vinson Wilson, Delwyn Wilson, Cindy Lussier, Berta Spears, Duane Spears, Roland Lussier, Martin Whitefeather, Phillip Fineday, Jr., Dewayne French, Cora Rosebear and his friends and family. Burial will be at the family burial grounds in Ponemah.
