Elizabeth Beaulieu Obituary

Elizabeth Marie Beaulieu, 81, of Red Lake, Minnesota, passed away at the Bemidji Sanford Medical Center on Monday, August 2, 2021.  Betty was born in Red Lake. Minnesota, on December 6, 1939, to Simon Sumner and Angeline Strong. She graduated from Red Lake High School and started her family, raising eight children and helped to raise nine others. Betty worked in several jobs throughout her life including serving as a Chemical Dependency Counselor for the Red Lake Chemical Dependency program, as a Teacher’s Aide for Headstart, and as a housekeeper for Abbott Northwestern Hospital during the 18 years she lived in Minneapolis.

Betty had many friends in many places. She loved to cook for all her family and loved the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling to pow wows around the US and Canada, going to the casino and playing bingo, and loved to laugh and have fun.

Welcoming her to the spirit world are her parents; husband James Beaulieu, Sr.; brothers Henry, Richard, Edward, Myron, Simon and Douglas Sumner; sister Thelma Sumner; sons Thomas Sumner and Emerson Charles Beaulieu Jr.; grandson Deland Beaulieu; granddaughter Gerri Ann Beaulieu; twin baby boys Beaulieu; great-granddaughter Cleo Johnson; and special friend Doug Cloud.  She will be lovingly remembered by her sons James, Gerry, and Emery; daughters Rita, Melissa, and Angela; those whom she helped to raise: Willy Strong, Rex Strong, Jim Dudley, Douglas Beaulieu, Derek, Corey and Joelle Beaulieu, Melanie Sumner, and Thelma May; 14 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A wake for Elizabeth will begin Thursday, August 5, 2021, at 1:00pm at the Little Rock Center in Little Rock, MN, and will continue until the service on Saturday, August 7, at 2:00pm. Fr. John Christianson will officiate. Pallbearers caring for Betty are Ronald Cloud, Randy Cloud, Jeremy Martin, Michael Martin, Richard Sumner, Delwyn English, Rodney Spears jr., and Keith Sumner with alternates Edward Boyd, John Boyd and Andrew Barrett.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Jourdain-Perpich Staff and Residents, Diane Mountain, Linda Cloud, Diane Cloud, Jan Cloud, Darlene Cloud, Daniel Stavdahl, Lisa Beaulieu, Julie Beaulieu, Bobbi Jo Beaulieu, Stacy Gonzales, Debbie Monroe, Karen Saunders, Ruth Auginash, and many more friends and relatives.
