Georgie-Kai Houle, “Little Shining Star,” age 30, of Bloomington, Minnesota, entered the spirit world on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from her home.
Georgie-Kai was born August 16, 1990, in Bemidji, Minnesota, to Sherry Houle and Joseph Fairbanks. She was raised in Sugar Bush and attended Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School in her younger years. She transferred to Voyageur School in Bemidji and then returned to Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School to graduate. Georgie-Kai was a straight-forward, tell-it-like-it-is type of person who loved with her whole heart and would do anything for those she loved. Georgie-Kai loved her family and friends wholeheartedly. In life, the things that brought her joy besides her family and friends was going to powwows, beading, listening to music, and taking pictures. She was always there for her loved ones and will be deeply missed.
Georgie-Kai leaves behind her parents; siblings Alecia Fairbanks, Joseph Fairbanks, Jr., Nate Houle, Dom Houle, Nariah White, Cameron Fairbanks, and Alli Fairbanks; nephews Nate Houle Jr., Joseph Fairbanks III, and Jace May; nieces Ximena Houle, Ariea Fairbanks-Wind, and Kendal Fairbanks; and many aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers Genny Houle and Barbara Fairbanks; grandfathers Dale Hanks and Butch Beaulieu; aunt Rhonda Fairbanks, uncle George Beaulieu; and cousin Rhonda Fairbanks.
A wake for George-Kai will begin Friday, May 6, 2022, at 5:00pm, at the Mission Community Center, Cass Lake, MN, and will continue until the service on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 11:00am. Father George Ross will serve as spiritual leader. Pallbearers will be Joe Fairbanks, Joey Fairbanks, Jr., Nathaniel Houle, Baby Nathaniel Houle, Jr., Dom Houle, Kobe Nabors, and Devin Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Alecia Fairbanks, Alli Fairbanks, Nariah White, Ne-Gonequa Nedeau, Keshuna Lussier, Destiny Lussier, Anna Houle, Sherry Houle, Irene Kay Norton, Teresa St. Clair, and Tina Houle. Burial will follow at the Sugarbush Township Cemetery, Sugar Bush, MN.
