Jaden Wood Obituary

Jaden Lee Wood, Amikenz (Little Beaver), age 25, of Red Lake, MN, passed away tragically on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

Jaden was born on January 31, 2000, in Bemidji, MN, to Shalena Wood and Patrick Tahahwah, Sr. Jaden was raised in Red Lake all his life by his mother and great-grandparents, Geraldine Neadeau and Don Cook Sr, along with his maternal grandmother, Vickie Neadeau and material grandfather, Am Wood. He went to school in Red Lake – attended Red Lake High School up until the 11th grade, then went to Deer Lake to start some farming work, which he really enjoyed doing. Jaden loved basketball with a passion – he was so good at it! He also loved softball, riding his bike and four wheeling. His most important thing was being with his brothers and family. His nickname was “JDAWG.” When he walked into the room he made everyone’s day with his contagious laugh. Jdawg had a heart of gold and so much to live for. He had so many awesome plans for his life. Jaden loved being around his younger siblings and cousins, showing them all his love and compassion that he had for them.

Jaden is survived by his parents: Shalena and Patrick; siblings: Diondre Stately, Brandon Tahahwah, Arianna Roberts, Ray Tahahwah, Persaias Tahahwah, Laylah Tahahwah, Sharian Tahahwah, Reuben Tahahwah, Noah Tahahwah, Shateasha Stately, Shareigh Ross, Jashawn, Cortez, D-Anthony, Deandre, Brandon, Jeffrey Cook, Aaron, Dylan, Lydell Cook, Kevin “KJ” Needham and Dezmen Cook, Paris, D’ondra, Le’Asha, Lala Matchen; aunts: Marla, Ramona, Jannette Needham, Natausha Smith, Janet Neadeau, Connie DeFoe, Rae Tahahwah, Alicia May-Cook, Allura May, Misty Cobenais and Mary Ellen Cook; uncles: Lee Neadeau, Gerald Needham and Fabian “Nickel” Cook; along with numerous cousins, friends and family, aunts and uncles, near and far.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Vickie “Strap” Neadeau; maternal great-grandparents: Geraldine Neadeau and Don Cook Sr, Samuel and Catherine Burns; aunt: Lisa Marie Cook; uncles: Duane “DJ” Neadeau and Don Cook Jr; brother: Patrick Tahahwah Jr, Richard Tahahwah and Rayane Tahahwah; and special brother: Devin Neadeau Sr.

A wake will begin at 11 AM on Monday, July 14, 2025 at the New Little Rock Center and continue until the service at 1 PM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 with Spiritual Leader Kelly Iceman Sr. Active Pallbearers will be Cole Cobenais, Shalu Steeprock, Patrick Buckanaga, Stanley Donnell, Avery King, Hunter Beaulieu, Xavier Sayers and Vincent May. Honorary Pallbearers will be Quincy Matchen, Tracy Cook, Kim Neadeau, Rose Neadeau, Justina Needham, Selena Spears, Edyn Drouillard, Lecia Cook, DeSean Stately, Trent Beaulieu, Ira Spears, Chase Cobenais, Brady Cook, Maria Hanson, Bobbi Jo Cobenais, Draya Roy, Selam Spears, LeShawnda Brun, Jerrell Schoenborn, Brandon Zavala, Thomas May, Jeris Beaulieu, Maliece White, Logan Neadeau, Ryan Neadeau Sr and Kayla Neadeau.  Burial will be at St Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Northern Minnesota.
