Janet Lynn Brun

Janet Lynn Brun, 52 of Red Lake passed away at home on June 30, 2025. Janet was born on May 16, 1973 in Red Lake to Donald and Geraldine Brun, Sr.

Janet graduated from Red Lake High School in 1994. Janet worked at ODC in Bemidji and at the JPECC until she retired on July 31, 2019. Janet liked to listen to Elvis, she liked to dance, watch her DVD movies, and go to the casino.

Janet is survived by both her parents: Donald Sr. and Geraldine Brun; brother: Donald (Nicole) Brun, Jr.; nieces: Megan Brun, Melissa Brun, and Misty Oakgrove; nephews: Frank Brun and Jacob Robbins of Duluth; uncles: Lawrence (Judith) Lajeunesse of Red Lake and Arnold Lajeunesse of Bemidji.

Janet is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Frank and Philomene (Lajeunesse) Johns; paternal grandparents: James and MaryJane (Carl) Brun; brother: Frank Allen Brun; sister: Kathy Richey; nephew: Joseph Robbins; aunts: Gretchen Stately, Bonnie Kingbird, Rose (LaLa) Johns, Mary (Fady) Johns, Susan Spears, Evelyn Spears, Ramona Lajeunesse, Elizabeth Lajeunesse, Anna Johns and Mary Rose Skinaway; and uncles: Bruce Brun, Gerald F. (Butch) Brun, George (Billy) King, Walter Lajeunesse, Edward Lajeunesse, Simon Johns, Philip Johns and Joseph Johns.

A wake will start at 12 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025 at the New Red Lake Center and continue until the funeral mass at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 2 PM with Father David Blume officiating. Active Casket bearers will be Frank Brun, Bruce Johns, Kyle Garrigan, Jr. (Brug), Caiden Oakgrove, Caiten Oakgrove and Royce Graves IV. Alternates will be Brian Holthusen, Jr. and Frank Johns. Honorary Casket bearers will be Nicole Johns, Simone Johns, Michelle Johns, Lindsay Johns, Daivida Graves, Rochelle Graves, Nicole Brun, and Roxanne Desjarlait. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Northern Minnesota.
