Janet Thunder

Janet Lee Thunder, age 67, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at her home.

Janet was born on September 22, 1955, in Minneapolis, MN to Nancy Thunder and Charles Harper. Janet was a lover of animals, especially her pet birds. She enjoyed shopping for knick knacks and playing Bingo. She liked watching scary movies, crime shows, and never missed The Young & The Restless. The death of her daughter, Nancy, in January of 2023, weighed heavy on her heart so spending time with family and surrounding herself with her grandchildren was special to her.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: David (Amy) Thunder and Hope Thunder; grandchildren: Susie, Rebecca, Orrin, Naylah, Malia, Emiliano, Keanu, Jory, Jasper, Dominique and Demi; 10 great-grandchildren: Alex, Avery, Brenda, Kyle Jr., Makoons, Animkii, Ki’Mora, Remi, Zakai and Bisky; siblings: Ronald Thunder, Pamela Mathews, Connie Graves-Oothoudt and Frank Brown; uncle, Maurice “Jocko” Thunder; special children: Anessa, Punky, Tayna and Tina; her long-time caregiver, Lynn Aasen; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Those greeting Janet are her parents; daughter, Nancy White; grandson, David Thunder, Jr.; sister, Rebecca Rose Thunder; brother, Jake Blue; aunts: Paulette Graves and Edith Graves; uncles: Alvin “Noshie” Thunder, Aloysius “Wishy” Thunder and Julius Thunder; as well as many other relatives.

The wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the New Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue until the service at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, July 24, 2023, with Father George Ross officiating. Honorary bearers will be: Janet’s Grandchildren, William Pemberton, Jr., Frank Brown and Dale Graves. Burial will be at the Episcopal Cemetery in Redby, MN.
