Jodi May Obituary

Jodi Renee May, age 56, of Red Lake, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Jodi was born on November 6, 1964, in Hennepin County, MN, to Barbara Cloud and John Marion.
As an infant, she was adopted by the May family and was raised as one of their own children in Red Lake, MN. She graduated from Red Lake High School. She worked as a cook for various places and later worked as a school bus driver for Red Lake School District and as a shuttle bus driver for Seven Clans Casino in Thief River, MN. In 2005, Jodi suffered a stroke. She lived at Neilson Place in Bemidji and the Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care for several years before moving home with family.

When she wasn’t working, Jodi loved going to the area casinos and travelling. She liked playing Pogo on her computer, enjoyed her daily daytime TV shows and liked WWE Wrestling.  She was a sports enthusiast.  She played and coached softball for many years.  She was an avid Vikings fan and liked getting in on the betting pools with her family, even recently winning the pot! Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children:  Shane (Sherri) May, Trisha (Jon) May, Anthony (Lilah) Green, Jeffrey (Chelsie) May, Ashley (Trudy) May and special son, Ryan Brown; grandchildren: Kyliah, Ronald, Mikayla, Jonathan, Jada and Anthony Jr.; siblings: David Sorenson, Teresa (Michael) Cloud, Kenneth (Maria) Cloud, Terrence Cloud, John Marion, Jr., Michelle Smith, Robert “Whitey” Anderson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Jodi was greeted in the spirit world by her daughter, Tashia Green; her grandmother, Eliza May, who raised her; her grandfather, Robert Charles Anderson; and her biological parents, Barbara Cloud and John Marion.

A traditional wake will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue until the service at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 30, 2021, with Zach Earley as spiritual leader.  The active casketbearers will be: Shane May, Robert “Whitey” Anderson, Kenneth Cloud, Sr., David Sorenson, Terrence Cloud, Phillip Sayers, Clinton Kane May, Leonard Cloud, Sr. and Robert Lussier.  Honorary casketbearers will be: Emily Cloud, Carla Pemberton, Karen Thunder, Terin Cobenais, Shirley Wiley, Dacia Juarez and Debbie Glen. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake.  Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker (www.whisperingpinesnorth.com).
