Joseph John Fairbanks, age 74, began his journey to the spirit world on Sunday, February 9, 2025 in Cass Lake, MN.
Joseph was born on February 8, 1951 to James Fairbanks and Verna Hanson in Red Lake, MN. Joseph enjoyed pow-wows, beadwork, playing computer games – especially solitaire, watching football – especially the Vikings, going to the casino and the movies. He loved cracking jokes and jump-scaring people. He loved showering his wife with gifts and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by son: James (JC) Fairbanks; daughters: Melanie Jourdain, Tina Brown, Karina Dunn, Amber Dunn and Tina Headbird; step-sons: Donald and Jesse Headbird and Gary Keezer; special granddaughters: Hattie Keezer, Natalie Headbird, Rain Headbird, Diamond Whitefeather and Mia Dunn; special grandsons: Junior Dunn, Joshua Cross, James Robinson and Tyler Randberg Jr; nephews: Carl Fairbanks, Les Robinson, Joey Fairbanks, Gordon Fairbanks, Charlie Robinson, Dennis Robinson, Brian, Aaron and Andrew Fairbanks; and many other family and friends.
Those greeting him in the spirit world are his wife: Arlene Fairbanks; and sons: Lance Robinson, Myron Howard, Jeff Keezer, Pete Headbird and granddaughter, Seneca Keezer.
A Traditional Wake will begin at 6 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Cass Lake Veteran’s Center and will continue until the service at 1 PM on Monday, February 17, 2025 with Jay Sarows as spiritual leader. Active Pallbearers will be Joey Fairbanks, Andrew Robinson, Carl Fairbanks, Les Robinson, Gordon Fairbanks and Donald Headbird. Honorary Pallbearers will be his daughters, grandchildren, family and friends. Burial will be at Sugar Bush Cemetery in Cass Lake in the spring.
