Joseph "Joe" Eugene Blacketter

Joseph “Joe” Eugene Blacketter, age 57, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.

Joe was born on July 22, 1963, in Cloquet, MN to Joseph Dolittle and Laura Ayanemhsung. He grew up in Duluth and attended Central High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Duluth area and worked as a bartender at Fond-du-Luth Casino until his retirement. Joe enjoyed spending time bicycling, walking and sitting by the lake, engaging in nature. He liked having his friends around and loved listening to music.

Joe leaves behind his daughters Nichole and Kyra Blacketter; brother Brian Blacketter of Duluth; sisters Bonnie (Lewis) Williams of Duluth, Sharon (Michael) Mathison of Duluth, and Karen Reynolds of Cloquet; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Dixson, Barbara Blacketter, and Diane Blacketter.

Funeral services for Joe will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 11:00am, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Cloquet, Minnesota. CDC guidelines will be followed and masks are required. Burial will follow at St. Mary and Joseph Cemetery in Sawyer.  Arrangements are being handled by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service serving northern Minnesota.
