Judith Marie Lajeunesse, age 85, passed away at Red Lake IHS Hospital after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
She was born in Red Lake, MN to Cecelia (Bellanger) and Edward Johnson on November 4, 1939. Judith was united in marriage for 67 years to Lawrence Lajeunesse Sr. on February 28, 1958. She was a devoted wife and mother to 12 children. Judith was a firm believer, that there was a higher power and creator of all things. Prior to her illness, she daily read and meditated on readings from the Bible. Judith loved to travel, she had been to Chicago, New York, Toronto, Colorado and Tennessee. She loved watching the Minnesota Twins and attended several games at the Metrodome and old Met Stadium. When she lived in Chicago on relocation, she attended baseball games at Soldier Field.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Cecelia and Edward Johnson; great grandmother, Sah-Kah-Tay, who raised her; brothers: Jerome, John and Clarence Johnson; sons: Lawrence Lajeunesse Jr., Brian Lajeunesse Sr., Bradley Lajeunesse; son in laws: Stuart Desjarlait, Randy Jourdain, Shannon Barron.
The family who cherishes her memory and mourns her loss are her husband, Lawrence, who cared for Judith during her illness for many years; sons: Alan (Karen) Lajeunesse, Bruce Lajeunesse, Travis (Lea) Lajeunesse, Keith (Lisa) Lajeunesse; daughters: Roxanne Desjarlait, Alice Lajeunesse, Janice Lajeunesse, Shelley Jourdain, and Laura Barron; sister in law, Emily Johnson; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The wake will begin at 5 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the Old Little Rock Center and continue until her memorial service at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Active pallbearers will be: Evan Lussier, Gilbert Lussier, II, Bryan Lussier Jr., David Lajeunesse, Timothy Lajeunesse, Jared Brown and alternates: Joseph Lajeunesse and Dennis Rice. Honorary pallbearers will be: Amanda Barron, Amber Lajeunesse, Roxanne Faye Lajeunesse, Lea Lajeunesse, Karla Lajeunesse, Ashley Lajeunesse, Aris Johnson, Tiffany English and Frances Lajeunesse. Judith will be laid to rest at the Family memorial grounds in Little Rock, MN following the service. Judith’s care has been entrusted to Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service.
