LLewellyn Charles "Sacky" Thunder Obituary

Llewellyn C "Sacky" Thunder, age 60 of Red Lake, MN, began his journey to the spirit world on April 3, 2026 in Minneapolis, MN.

Llewellyn was born to Bernadine and Joseph Thunder on August 25, 1965 in Red Lake, MN. Sacky finished high school in Red Lake. After graduation, he went on to Georgia for boot camp. After completing boot camp, he came back to Red Lake and took a course at New Beginnings. Sacky then started working doing basements for Red Lake Builders. He then went on to Blackjack dealing at Jackpot Junction in Morton, as well as at Red Lake and Thief River Falls casinos, and Firefly Casino in Granite Falls. He worked with Donnell’s Plumbing, did work for Fred Desjarlait at the Old Red lake Embassy in Minneapolis and did odd and end jobs for family and friends. He also helped build the Thief River Casino, Red Lake Jail and helped with the Red Lake School. Sacky played softball for MN Chipps and Redby Red Skins. He also coached Little League in his younger years and was active with kids in Co-ed softball. Sacky had a heart of gold, helped anyone that asked and touched a lot of people with his kindness. Sacky lapsed into addiction after the traumatic event on 3/21/2005 that injured his only biological son, Steven. He left for Minneapolis to go to treatment, which he completed, but relapsed shortly after. He hadn’t received mental health help. Anyone that knew Sacky knew his love for his kids and grandkids, he still loved his kids’ mother, Lee Ann M Cobenais. Together they had four kids and was given his nephew to join his family. Before Sacky started his own family, he helped raise his niece, Jami, whom he called his daughter.

Family that Sacky joins are his parents; all his grandparents; nephew Dion Thunder; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters Jami, Cheree (Dallas), Madelyn and Keahna; sons Steven and Lewis; sister Rose; brother Joseph “Jake”, the mother of his children Lee Ann M Cobenais; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
