Laura Jean Ruelas-Gibbs, age 46, began her journey to the spirit world on Sunday, March 16, 2025 in Minneapolis, MN.
Laura was born on August 16, 1978 to Lawrence Cloud and Ramona Gibbs in Minneapolis, MN. Laura loved going to bingo and the casino. She spread love by her cooking. She loved all her kids deeply. Laura enjoyed going to powwows, traveling and Spanish music! She was very ambitious and she graduated with her firstborn, Mauricio. She loved cookouts with friends and family and loved baby Yoda. Laura enjoyed spending time with her “grand-pups.” She loved having company and making others laugh.
Laura is survived by her sons: Mauricio Castillo, Ramon Castillo, Mateo Morris and Juan Ruelas-Gibbs Jr; daughters: Ana Rosa Gibbs-Martinez, Mi’Reya Gibbs and Chalina Gibbs; grandson: Javier Castillo; father: Lawrence Cloud; step-mother: Nancy Cloud; step-sisters: Tracey Homme and Nancy Timm; step-brother: Jerry Wind; cousins: Adrienne (Sam) Morris, Vanessa (George) Gibbs and Vanessa Cloud; sister: Shelly Jack; brothers: Lawrence Gibbs, Jeremy Cloud, Jason Wind Sr and Anthony Gibbs Sr; husband: Juan Ruelas Sr; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Meeting her in the spirit world are her mom: Ramona Jean Gibbs; granddaughter: Ramona Castillo; grandmothers: Mary Gibbs and Mary Jane Cloud; grandfathers: Oliver Gibbs Sr and Andrew Roy Cloud Sr; sister: Mary J Cloud; cousin: Gerrilyn Auginash; and uncle: Benjamin Cloud Sr; and nephew Jason Wind Jr.
A traditional wake will begin at 1 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at the Redby Community Center and continue until the service at 11 AM on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Spiritual Leaders will be Ty Stately and Anita Gibbs. Active Pallbearers will be Lawrence Gibbs, Jeremy Cloud, Ramon Castillo, Timothy Cloud, Jason Wind Sr, Gerald Cloud. Alternates: Robert Cloud Jr, Neil Buckanaga Jr and Garrett Gibbs Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Juan Ruelas-Gibbs Jr, Mateo Morris, Gina & Gino Erwin, Danielle Ruiz, Angalee Jacobs, Joanne Connor, Maria Auginash and Karen Staples. Burial will be at the Redby Community Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack, MN.
