Leslie Floyd Showalter, age 55, of Akeley, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.
Leslie Jr. was born August 27, 1966, in Minneapolis, MN, to Leslie Eugene and Mary Ellen (Baldwin) Showalter. Leslie moved with his family to the Pine River area in 1969 and was raised there. He lived in Northern Minnesota most of his life and loved the outdoors. Fishing was his passion. Leslie was married three times -- to Mary, Jeanie and Linda. He loved Mary’s youngest son as his own and remains his only son.
Leslie was a simple man, living a simple life. He had a heart of gold, a very kind soul, and jumped to lend a hand to anyone. He kept to himself, enjoying his chocolate and his dogs. Anyone who knew Leslie will dearly miss him.
Leslie is survived by his father Leslie Showalter, Sr. of Menahga; son Timmy (Becky) White of Bemidji; sisters: Sandy Huben and Jackie Johnson of St. Cloud and Mary Beth (Ken) White of Longville; brothers Tim Odland of Rockford MN and Pete Odland of Lowell MI; many nieces, cousins and other loved ones, who were all dear to his heart. Leslie was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ellen Showalter; maternal grandparents Owen and Margaret Baldwin; and paternal grandparents Floyd (Happy) Showalter and Beth (Tom) Horner.
A funeral service will be held at Akeley United Methodist Church, Akeley, MN on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Loren Ferch will be officiating. Casketbearers caring for Leslie will be Troy Boone Turner, Joshua Turner, Ken White Jr., Vincent White, Tristan McCoy, and Sam Turner. Burial will be held at a later date in Lemon Cemetery, Badoura, Minnesota.
