Letesha Lea LaFave, Ogiijiikwe “Walks with Strength” of the Kingfisher Clan, age 35 of Mountain Iron, began her journey to the spirit world on March 29, 2026 in Virginia, MN.

Letesha was born on December 28, 1990 to Elsie Johnson-Jones and Jerry LaFave. Letesha loved spending her time with her friends, going to the casino - especially traveling to different casinos, and doing scratch offs.  

Letesha leaves behind her mother: Elsie; her brothers: Beau (Sandra Simmons) LaFave and Kip Neadeau; special uncles and aunts: Mike Johnson, Holly Johnson, Fred Jones Jr, Myron Jones Sr, Ronald Jones, Jessie Jones, Sharon Jones and Vickie Jones; special friend: Joe Chosa; and her children: Keith Cloud Jr, KC Cloud, Kahlyis Cloud and Kristen Cloud of Bemidji.

She will be reunited with her father: Jerry LaFave; grandparents: Greg Johnson Sr and Darlene Jones; great-grandparents: Fred Jones Sr and Gertie Jones; uncles: Greg Johnson Jr, Terry Jones and Edwin Jones; cousins: Orlene Jones, Eldon Cloud, Dana Cobenais and Sheila GoodTeacher; aunts: Roberta GreenLeaf and Myrna Hardy.

A wake will begin at 1 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Center and will continue until the service at 10 AM on Friday, April 3, 2026 with Spiritual Leader Mike Needham. Active Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Nick Jones, Aaron Jones, Daryl Beaulieu Jr, Dwight GreenLeaf, Torrey Jones, Myron Jones Jr, Lamont (Dee) White. Alternate: Kohta Martell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gloria Cloud, Annette Boerger, Amy Baker, Val Boness, Kristina Pikula, Melissa GreenSky, Freida GreenLeaf, Chavez Kinimila, Mike O’Shea, Jared Boshey, Domingo Aguilar, Tim GoodTeacher, Celeste GoodTeacher, Kim Cloud, Robin Jones, Pearl Mitchell, Shantell Jones, Janelle Jones. Burial will be at the Jones Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving Northern Minnesota.
