Obituary
Lorraine Bellanger, age 66, Bear Clan, of Wyoming, MN, travelled to the spirit world on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, in Forest Lake, MN.
Lorraine was born on May 26, 1956, in Red Lake, MN, to Phyllis Roberts and Dan Bellanger where she lived with her family until they moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1960. In her lifetime she had various jobs from working at a bank to Sears and then finally retiring from At&T after 25 years. She was an active member of the Red Lake Metropolitan Council. In her younger years, she enjoyed travelling the pow wow trail. Lorraine’s favorite hobbies included beading, sewing, arts and crafts, cooking, and was known for her homemade biscuits. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, family and grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dennis Eckman; children: Andrea Kapishkowit and David Bellanger; brothers: Daniel Belllanger and Jospeh “Tiny” Bellanger; five grandchildren: Mia Kapishkowit, Alex Hill, J.J. Hill, Laelah Kapishkowit and Perci Kapishkowit; step-son, Thomas Eckman; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Those greeting Lorraine in the spirit world are: her parents; brothers: Roy Roberts, Arthur Bellanger, Dwight Bellanger, Sr., David Bellanger and Melvin Jourdain; daughter, Deidre Kapishkowit; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The wake will begin at 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake and continue until the service at 9:00 A.M. on Friday, September 23, 2022. Active casketbearers will be: Joe Roberts, Dwight Bellanger, Jr., Daniel Bellanger, Darnell Bellanger, Damien Charnoski, David “Chubbs” Jourdain, J.J. Hill, and Ryan Jourdain. Honorary casketbearers will be her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, Dan Bellanger, Steve Bellanger, Renika Love, Brandon Miller, and the Holden Family. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker & Hackensack (www.whipsperingpinesnorth.com).
