M. Priscilla Stately

M. Priscilla Ikwe “Woman” Stately, age 92, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, in Red Lake, MN.

Priscilla was born on September 23, 1931, in Red Lake, MN to Thomas and Fannie (Anderson) Johns. She worked for the BIA and later at IHS in medical records for many years. She loved working crossword puzzles, playing Keno and Bingo. She liked to watch game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune, flipping through her gossip magazines and reading books. She loved to play cards and board games with her grandchildren. She never passed up a plain White Castle burger or apple pie. Priscilla liked to travel and enjoyed her trips to Arizona to visit her uncle, Robert, and Vegas trips to try her luck. She was a wonderful auntie who always went above and beyond.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Ramona (Leo) Desjarlait; sons, Keith (Julie) Stately and Dale Johns; special daughter, Bille Jean (James) King; brother, Maynard Johns Sr.; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; brothers: Kenneth Jones Sr., Roman Johns Sr., Charles Johns, Leonard Johns; sisters: Edith Jackson, Sylvia Brun, Darlene Beaulieu; infant daughter, J.M.J.; two great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

The wake will begin at 11AM on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the New Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake and continue until the service at 1PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 with Father John Christianson officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Marquis King, Durand Johns, Nolan Desjarlait, Tom Desjarlait, Brian Desjarlait, Vernon Jones Sr., Thomas Johns, Charles Johns, Calvin Stately, Dayton Lussier Sr., Henry Hill Jr., Charles Grolla, Isaiah Bernatsky. Honorary pallbearers will be: Chalina Johns, Shaleesa Johns, Jamilee King, Justina King, Alexis Desjarlait, Skylar Desjarlait, Emerald Desjarlait, Aishja Desjarlait, Renae Stately, Randina Stately, Kalylah Lussier, Isabella Stately, Kelly Hill, Jordan Hill, Glennis Johns, Lisa R. Beaulieu, Jewel Desjarlait, Paula Roy, Fawn Beaulieu, Dawn Beaulieu, Rosalie Hill. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake, MN. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker and Hackensack, MN.
